68 Bedroom Care Home

THE FACTS

Client:

Tanglewood | Stubbs Construction
PROJECT BRIEF:
68 Bedroom Care Home
Sector:
Healthcare
Site Area:
1.02 acres
Located on the site of a former demolished care home, this scheme has been designed to maximise the number of bedrooms while minimising the impact on the surrounding neighbours. The 68-bedroom home has been designed over 3 floors with the top floor utilising the roof space to reduce the scale of the building. Care suites have been sized to optimise the operators’ staffing ratios. Communal day rooms are in the centre of the care suites, reducing the distance resident’s bedrooms are to the lounge and dining areas. Full height glazing to the lounges and dining rooms flood the dayrooms with light and allow views out for the residents. Quiet lounges and seating areas provide alternative areas for residents to sit and join in activities. The main entrance doubles as a resident café area with the opportunity for visitors to meet without having to go into the care suites. On the first floor the residents have access to the hair salon, tearoom, family dining/ activity room and cinema. A separate service access allows staff and deliveries into the home without going through the main entrance which could compromise security and infection control.

The delivery of Fosse Way View has been the result of the best across-the-board teamwork effort that I have ever experienced, despite the challenges of the pandemic.
Director at Lawrence Baker, Luke Hollick
Fosse Way View has been beautifully thought out with a lot of attention to details such as the spa bathrooms with the twinkling ceilings, balconies overlooking the gardens and a beautiful bar area in the reception area where people can meet to sit and socialise with their families.
