Mixed development of townhouses, houses and apartments

Built on the site of the Lune Industrial Estate on the bank of the River Lune the scheme was designed to use traditional materials with contemporary proportions.

Working closely with the Conservation officer, the local Parish Council and the Environmental Agency, the scheme was part of a master-plan to develop the whole of the industrial estate including the relocation of the existing business.

Large picture windows, balconies and orientation allowed the residents to gain the benefit of the views across the river and beyond.

48 no. 2 bedroom Apartments for the Private Rented Sector

Built on a small site in St Helens overlooking a new development of apartments on the opposite side of the road the apartments needed to be angled to reduce the opportunity of overlooking.

The saw tooth façade allowed the introduction of triangular shaped external balconies for every apartment.

The solid sandstone base lifted the apartments from the street level and provided the space to incorporate a car park servicing the apartments. The use of timber frame and rain screen cladding allowed a quick build and crisp lines.

14 Extra Care Houses and 2 Apartments for Beechcroft Developments

Designed as part of the care home development for Beechcroft, the brief was to provide high end extra care houses and apartments with shared communal facilities in the care home.

Using Cotswold stone and complimentary cream render, we designed a cottage feel in the grounds of the care home around a number of significant, protected trees.

Incorporating feature garden rooms and first floor terraces, the houses were orientated to maximise views of the surrounding woodland and internal courtyard. Fully accessible, the houses will provide a home for life with the support of the care home if required.
