We are a client focused; commercially aware, innovative design practice based in Warrington in the Northwest of England. We pride ourselves on the service that we provide all of our clients, taking their visions from inception to completion and beyond.
Through intelligent design we create outstanding architecture. Established by Andrew Cross and Howard Clayton, both fully qualified, Chartered Architects, with a combined experience of over 30 years in private practice. We employ a team of highly motivated professionals, capable of delivering both small- and large-scale projects simultaneously to the highest standards. Working across a number of sectors with private clients, ‘blue chip’ organisations, developers and contractors, C Squared Architects are able to use this experience to ensure a tailored service that suits each client’s needs and budget.

MEET THE DIRECTORS.
Howard Clayton
B.A.(Hons), Dip Arch, RIBA
With over a decade of experience working at multi-award winning practices, prior to setting up C Squared Architects in 2016; Howard has amassed a wealth of skills and knowledge across a variety of sectors. His early work focused on the residential, education, healthcare and automotive sectors; working with the likes of BMW, MedicX, various housing trusts and with Manchester City Council to deliver their first Council led major housing regeneration project for 25 years.
With a keen interest in dementia design, having attended Stirling University’s Dementia Design School, and an in-depth understanding of the care industry, Howard has designed care homes across the country for a variety of operators. His passion for high quality design, pragmatism and personable approach has allowed him to forge strong relationships with developers, care operators and contractors alike.
Howard has helped to build a team of dedicated professionals who take pride in the buildings they design and have a desire to make a positive change to the lives of those using the buildings.
Andrew M Cross
B.A.(Hons), Dip Arch, RIBA
With over 20 years’ industry experience, before co-founding C Squared Architects, Andrew was a Director of an award winning, multi-disciplinary practice. Since then he has used his experience, passion and meticulous eye for detail to help drive the practice to the success that it is today. Throughout his career, Andrew has worked for many blue-chip clients, striving for excellence for all he works with. With a crucial understanding of what is required to deliver projects, he can evaluate schemes quickly and produce quality solutions. This approach to work and a crucial understanding of figures has helped the practice to develop projects in a wide range of sectors, including Petro-chemical building refurbishments, new and refurbished HGV service centres across the UK, high-rise residential apartments and specialising in the healthcare market.
Andrew has worked with many national care operators; Care UK, Bupa, Hallmark, Porthaven, Gracewell, Hamberley, and Tanglewood in addition to smaller operators and one-off clients. Andrew is well known and respected in the care sector, judging care home design awards, speaking at care shows and was involved in developing a research paper with Stirling University on Dementia Design. His in-depth knowledge of the industry has enabled C Squared Architects to build on past experience and create schemes that are truly flexible, even at feasibility stage, to adapt to the ever changing care needs brought on by a pandemic or changes in operator requirements.
As an Architect, Andrew is very much ‘process’ driven, with a ‘form follows function’ approach which provides a great balance and grounding for the design flare he helps to nurture and encourage within the office. Through this balanced approach we are able to produce well thought through, innovative designs that respond to the brief and budget.
