Crewe

72 Bedroom Care Home

THE FACTS

Client:

Liberty Care | Triton Construction
PROJECT BRIEF:
72 Bedroom Care Home
Sector:
Healthcare
Site Area:
1.44 acres
C Squared Architects were appointed by Liberty Care Developments to design a 72-bedroom care home in Shavington, Crewe. Due to the slightly undulating nature of the site, we determined we were able to partly submerge the building into the site to reduce the perceived height of the care home. This allowed us to locate the back of house facilities within the roof space of the western wing without the scale and mass of the building becoming overly large.

Locating the back of house facilities within the roof space has allowed the floor plate of the care home to be more compact and provide more outdoor space around the care home.

To break up the overall scale and mass of the building we split the building into four elements, broken up by three glazed links. The glazed links accommodate: the central core at the main entrance; and the lounge / dining areas in either wing. The building utilises a blend of contemporary elements on a traditional, vernacular form. This provides a scale and mass that is appropriate for the area.
C Squared Architects have an excellent understanding of how workshop and the support accommodation needs to work and interface to assist with the day to day working of the business.

The delivery of Fosse Way View has been the result of the best across-the-board teamwork effort that I have ever experienced, despite the challenges of the pandemic.

Fosse Way View has been beautifully thought out with a lot of attention to details such as the spa bathrooms with the twinkling ceilings, balconies overlooking the gardens and a beautiful bar area in the reception area where people can meet to sit and socialise with their families.
