Following discussions with Hamberley, we were asked to design a state of the art 75 bedroom care home with associated parking, landscaping and amenity space. The individual floors of the care home were designed as independent units, each with access to a garden or balcony. The units were designed for efficient staffing with shared facilities. The design approach was for the care home to be arranged around a central core of shared facilities and entrance area with 15 bedroom wings leading from this. A key driver behind this is to create a home that the residents living within it can recognise and be in keeping with the residential vernacular and grain of the area. The provision of nursing dementia friendly bedrooms within a purpose built care home was critical to meeting the needs of the local residents. The was designed so that each group feels homely and secure whilst having the flexibility for the residents to utilise a safe external environment
